There’s too much management and not enough leadership!”

It’s often said that the difference between successful and unsuccessful process improvement initiatives depends upon the level of management commitment.  The late W. Edwards Deming once wrote, however, “There’s too much management and not enough leadership!”

This webinar will go beyond mere management or supervisory practices to examine Deming’s principles of leadership for the new economic age.  They are based on what Deming termed the “system of profound knowledge” or SOPK. It all begins with the science of physics and understanding of systems.  The science of statistics is at the foundation of sound knowledge of the theory of variation as well as essential and powerful tools like statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE).  The science of psychology helps the leader to understand people and the critical difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.

The vast majority of so-called Six Sigma initiatives have been abject failures due to too much emphasis on certifying Black Belts and certifying Green Belts and managing DMAIC process improvement projects.  In other words, there’s been too much emphasis on managing Six Sigma and not enough emphasis on leadership.  Join Jim Leonard and spend some time pondering Dr. Deming’s teachings and principles of leadership.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
