Rod’s 50 year career as a BQMS professional and consultant has ranged from managing domestic and international start-up operations, to creating and implementing innovative-auditing practices, and teaching quality management principles and problem solving in companies of all sizes. His worldwide experience spans over 40 SIC Codes in Textile, Furniture, Chemical, Rubber/Plastic, Electronics, Transportation, Management Services, and Communications. Rod served as BQMS/8D Program Manager for 30+ years at Allied Chemical, Bose Corporation, Goodrich Optical Aerospace, and Data Terminal Systems/NSC; then as Quality Director for Omega Plastics, building their ISO-13485 base toward BQMS 21CFR-820 / cGMP infrastructure. He now consults with multiple organizations and is a Quality Compliance Manager contractor at Flextronics.
Rod’s proven skills include: administration, mentoring, training, facilitation, transactional value stream mapping, auditing techniques, Apollo and 8D CAPA, team building, conflict resolution, communications, and collaboration of internal support functions with external suppliers and customers, MBO, 5S, and Lean disciplines. He and his team received The President’s Award for outstanding contribution to the Bose Corporation for successfully transforming the Bose-QMS into the Bose-BQMS, now recognized as a world-class cutting-edge business quality system design. This BQMS model has proven successful for companies adapting BQMS principles (both small and large) for its Lean metric driven approach, which engages all levels of process ownership throughout the organization.
Roderick’s audit certification and training include: ISO-9001/14001/13485, TS-16949, IATF-16949, ISO-26262, AS-9100, QSG-trainings, AIAG-Plexus, BSI-Plexus, ISO & cGMP Green Belt-DMAIC, Bose-Air Academy/Zero Defect & CAPA. He has been published in International Business & Quality Progress, co-chaired AIAG workgroups, and served on the committee to re-engineer the AIAG CQI-20 Problem Solving Guidelines Manual. Rod is a frequent presenter at ASQ and QSG’s Quarterly Meetings.
Rod holds a B.S in Industrial Management Technology from Northeastern University.
