Kristopher Sortwell – Senior Consultant, Leadership Training and Development

Kris Sortwell is an experienced and passionate facilitator whose dynamic approach promotes a high level of skill development and accountability. Kris has advanced leadership experience across multiple settings including both for-profit and non-profit sectors. Kris is known for his ability to keep trainees motivated, engaged, and focused. Program participants consistently praise Kris for his level of knowledge, humor, relatability, and honesty. When facilitating, Kris tailors program information in a way that is both genuine and relevant to attendees. This includes an individualized and systematic breakdown of challenges, barriers, strengths, and successes. 

Kris has been facilitating leadership programs for nearly 20 years. Program topics include team leadership, performance evaluations, program management, individualized leadership, presentation skills, negotiating, communications, time management, holding effective meetings, team building, facilitating organizational change, problem solving and decision-making, person-centered services, innovation, conflict resolution, strategic planning, performance expectations, business simulations, and many others.  

Kris has his Masters in Social Work from Springfield College and a BA in Psychology, with a focus on organizational Psychology. He has certifications in person-centered thinking and advising, as well as Police Officer Standards and Training (POST). At the Alzheimer’s Association, Kris is the Regional Director of Community Outreach and Education. He helped create and now leads the Association’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Steering Committee. Kris has over 13 years of board experience which includes the Eastern CT State University Employee Advisory Board, Senior Resources Advisory Board, and two years as the Chair of the Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Board for the state of CT. Kris has over 16 years of experience as an employment readiness specialist and has advanced experience in evaluation, data collection, system analysis, and performance plans related to strategic planning and organizational change.

Kris lives in Brooklyn, Connecticut with his wife and three girls. His personal interests include running, music, and spending time with his family.
