Introduction to SolidWorks

Course Description
Introduction to SolidWorks is designed to familiarize participants with SolidWorks version 2014 and provide the basic foundation needed to use the software for part modeling and dimensioning. Emphases training include: SolidWorks 2014 basic tools and features, part design and modeling, and part dimensioning.

This course employs a variety of instructional methods to maximize learning outcomes, including traditional lectures, instructor-prepared handouts, and hands-on classroom projects. During training, students will be introduced to the concept of self-learning, and they will engage learning materials independently by reading and following assigned lessons from the SolidWorks manual. Participants will also learn to solve problems and use critical thinking to complete assigned projects.

Who Should Attend
Introduction to SolidWorks is suitable for designers and engineers that are new to SolidWorks or 3D CAD, as well as those who have some experience with another CAD program and would like to learn the SolidWorks software.

Students who successfully complete Introduction to SolidWorks will be able to:

  • Understand and use the basic tools and features of SolidWorks 2014
  • Design and model single parts using SolidWorks 2014
  • Use SolidWorks 2014 tools and features to dimension existing single parts
